Carolyn is the team leader of the Center for Independent Living Disability Resource Center’s programs and she has a deep sense of commitment to our region’s nonprofit sector. When we have inclusive and diverse employment opportunities we strengthen our work teams’ effectiveness.”
Join us for this month's chapter meeting as we:
- Discuss the diversity and various types and aspects of disability
- Explore our attitudinal barriers to working successfully with people with disabilities
- Review disability awareness and etiquette
- Develop appropriate language in addressing or discussing individuals with disabilities
- Learn appropriate skills to interact with and/or assist people with disabilities
- Review basics of the Americans with Disability Act and the Amendment Act (ADA and the ADAAA)
- Define processes by which employees may request and employers may provide accommodations
- Analyze other issues concerning accommodations for people with disabilities
- Discuss examples of inclusion that build your employment team
