Shannon Lands currently serves as President Elect of the HR Florida State Council and has been a member of the Council’s Executive Committee for the past five years. Prior to joining the Executive Committee, Shannon served 2 years as a council District Director and was the President of the Greater Pensacola Chapter in 2005.
Shannon’s paying job is being the Human Resources Director at Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, a large regional public accounting & consulting firm. She has enjoyed that role for 16 years. Shannon has been a practitioner of HR for well over 20 years and primarily focuses on recruiting, benefits, and employee relations.
Shannon is a long standing SHRM member, and holds her SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications. She is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), earning her accounting degree and her MBA at The University of West Florida.

What is it about the words “HR Metrics” that still tends to get alot of practitioners scratching their heads? HR Metrics and Business Analytics have become a hot topic in organizations over the years. Yet, many practitioners are still perplexed by them and even intimidated by them. The focus of this presentation will be to define HR Metrics and Business Analytics and discuss how they can contribute to improving the business and its organizational effectiveness. This session will explore and interpret metrics and analytics that can be applied to achieve greater business outcomes and help support human capital strategies.
